48 Hour Foodie Guide to Miami

1. In case you missed it… I shared my 48 Hour Foodie Guide to Miami this week! It only took me FOREVER to get it out there… but it’s finally there! If you are heading to Miami, you have to check my guide out, even if you are only there for a day or two before heading out on a cruise. Now that I’ve wrapped up that trip… it’s time to start totally focusing all my energy on all things JAPAN. GAH I cannot belieeeeeeve it’s going to be here so fast. It’s insane!

2. If Stephen King Wrote HARRY POTTER. *crying laughing*

3. Song of the Week is In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company by The Dead South. This is a new find that popped up for me on Spotify and the voices… the VOICES. You are going to find yourself bobbing along with about 10 seconds (and this is coming from a gal who isn’t enthusiastic about country/folk… so that’s really saying something).  (more…)

Berbere Fried Ravioli

http://ift.tt/2DMsLJ4

Golden brown, crispy Berbere Fried Ravioli are the spicy appetizer everyone will be begging you to make again and again. Berbere is an Ethiopian spice mixture that’s full of chili, ginger, garlic, and so much more, making it a complex spice that elevates any dish to something truly amazing. The simple addition of this spice to the dredging mixture makes these fried ravioli spicy and rich in flavor! Serve up with marinara sauce and watch ’em disappear.

If you haven’t heard of berbere before, it’s time that you did.

Berbere Fried Ravioli

Berbere is a hot spice blend that is a prominent ingredient in Ethiopian recipes. It’s packed with a TON of flavor and heat – and when I say heat, I mean it. It’s usually made with chili peppers, garlic, ginger, nigella, ajwain and more.

No matter what version you can find at your local spice shop or try to make at home (there are some excellent homemade recipes like this one from The Daring Gourmet), you will end up with a fiery, bright red, and aromatic spice blend that will become your new favorite ingredient.  (more…)

Dad's Creamy Cauliflower Soup was always a favorite growing up, and made with just 5 ingredients!
Dad’s Creamy Cauliflower Soup

I am re-sharing this recipe in honor of my Dad who passed away Friday. I am heartbroken to lose such a great man, but have comfort knowing he is finally resting in peace. My Dad loved to cook, making many of the dishes he cooked for us will bring back the memories of our childhood and the love we felt from him.

48 Hour Foodie Guide to Miami

http://ift.tt/2DLw0Vl

Whether you are heading to Miami to head out on a cruise or for a beach vacay, my 48 Hour Foodie Guide to Miami is your go-to for the ultimate in everything food and drink. Forget the over-the-top posh spots, this is the side of Miami you need to see.

48 Hour Foodie Guide to Miami

When it comes to Miami, there’s a plethora of excitement waiting for you. As you walk down Ocean Drive there’s music wafting through the air as you take in the ocean smell and wonder if you can survive the humidity for another block before darting into a shop that’s pumping the AC (ok maybe that’s just me?).

Honestly, I’ve always loved coming to Miami. Every since I turned 21, my mom and I would make a point to head to South Beach for a day whenever we went to visit my grandmother in Boca Ration.

Skinnytaste Meal Plan (January 29-February 4)

A free 7-day flexible meal plan including breakfast, lunch and dinner and a shopping list. All recipes include calories and Weight Watchers Freestyle Smart Points.

Skinnytaste Meal Plan (January 29-February 4)

Hope everyone is enjoying these meal plans! I’ve been incorporating more meal prep dishes into the meal plan, meals you can make on the weekend so they are ready for the week. If you’re new to my meal plans, I’ve been sharing free, 7-day flexible meal plans (you can see my previous meal plans here) that are meant as a guide, with plenty of wiggle room for you to add more food, coffee, beverages, fruits, snacks, dessert, wine, etc. You should aim for around 1500 calories* a day.

There’s also a precise, organized grocery list that will make grocery shopping so much easier and much less stressful. Save you money and time. You’ll dine out less often, waste less food and you’ll have everything you need on hand to help keep you on track.

Lastly, if you’re on Facebook join my Skinnytaste Facebook Community where everyone’s sharing photos of recipes they are making, you can join here. I’m loving all the ideas everyone’s sharing!

THE DETAILS:

Breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday, are designed to serve 1 while dinners and all meals on Saturday and Sunday are designed to serve a family of 4. Some recipes make enough leftovers for two nights or lunch the next day. While we truly believe there is no one size fits all meal plan, we did our best to come up with something that appeals to a wide range of individuals. Everything is Weight Watchers friendly, I included the updated Weight Watcher Freestyle Points for your convenience, feel free to swap out any recipes you wish or just use this for inspiration!

The grocery list is comprehensive and includes everything you need to make all meals on the plan. I’ve even included brand recommendations of products I love and use often. Cross check your cabinets because many condiments you’ll notice I use often, so you may already have a lot of them.

And last, but certainly not least, this meal plan is flexible and realistic. There’s plenty of wiggle room for cocktails, healthy snacks, dessert and dinner out. And if necessary, you can move some things around to make it work with your schedule. Please let me know if you’re using these plans, this will help me decide if I should continue sharing them!

All your favorite loaded baked potato flavors are wrapped up inside an egg roll, fried golden brown and served up with an epic beer cheddar cheese sauce. All I can say is, you’re welcome. 😉

Things I don’t have patience for usually include waiting for a baked potato to finish baking in the oven.

Loaded Mashed Potato Egg Rolls

Why on earth do those things take so long?? I mean, it’s a potato, not a pot roast…

ANYWAY, my patience issues aside, who else out there loves a delicious loaded baked potato?  (more…)
