New Tip on Flat Bench Lying Leg Raise

Exercise: Flat Bench Lying Leg Raise
Tip: Lying Leg Raises are a great lower ab exercise but the description of how to perform this exercise is incorrect. To perform this exercise to maximum benefit, don't put your hands under your glutes. Instead, lightly grasp the sides of the bench for stability only (or place them by your sides if you're on the floor), do not use your hands or arms in any way to assist with the leg lift. Now, press your lower back against the bench for the entirety of the exercise. Exhale on the lift, inhale on the lower and use a slightly increased breathing cadence to set the pace for the movement (slightly increased from normal breathing, you want to be careful not to breathe too fast and cause light headedness). Also, be sure to keep your jaw and neck nice and loose, all the stress should be on the lower abs. If both legs is too much, do one leg at a time and complete the number of reps per leg before switching legs. When doing one legged raises, experiment with keeping the resting leg on or off the ground, always remembering to keep the lower back pressed down and the neck and jaw nice and loose. Feel the burn!!

--> Great tip by fmunz33029 - be very careful of holding a loose dumbbell between your feet. A weighted ankle cuff is a great idea!
